ClinPlus Report templates may be moved or copied from one instance of ClinPlus Report to another instance. There are several reasons you may want to do this: You are working on a computer at home with a stand-alone installation of the system and you want to move your work to the network or you are delivering templates to a third party or you are moving templates from a test instance into production.

This is accomplished using the Template Management module as follows:

Note: This example is using a flash drive to accomplish the actual transfer. You may require a different method (CD, diskette, email, etc.) but the concept is the same.

From the system you want to copy from...

Assign a libname to the flash drive in the Template Management module.

In the Current Templates, select External Libraries then your transfer library (flash drive libname).

In Available Templates, locate the template library and select the template(s) you wish to copy and click the copy button.

From the system you want to copy to...

Connect the flash drive to the system you wish to copy to and assign an external library reference in the Template Management module as before.

In Current Templates, locate the template libray you wish to copy to.

In Available Templates select External Libraries then your transfer library (flash drive libname). Select the templates you want to copy and click copy.

Things to consider:

Pre and post-processing programs will need to be copied separately using the operating system (Windows Explorer or My Computer) and their references may need to be changed to reflect their new location once copied. (Version 4.0 will automatically copy Pre and post-processing programs)

Links to global titles and footnotes will be lost when copying to another instance of the system as record keys differ from instance to instance. You can either break the links prior to transferring or re-assign your global titles and footnotes once copied. (Version 4.0 will automatically convert global titles and footnotes to static text)

SAS CPORT and CIMPORT proceedures will be needed to copy between different operating systems such as Windows to Unix.

You may use the operating system (Windows Explorer or My Computer) to copy entire template libraries. You can use this method if you wish to create or replace an entire template library rather than add to an existing library. Template libraries are SAS catalogs named listings3.sas7bcat for listing templates.sas7bcat and tables3 for tables.
