The ClinPlus CPDM Screen Print Utility (CPDM SPU) is a stand-alone SAS/AF program designed to produce text-based data listings in a format that are close facsimiles of the ClinPus CPDM data entry screens. This is accomplished by reading the CPDM screen metadata to design the layouts and then read the clinical data to populate the reports. Reports are generated based on a selected display order and may be produced for all or selected patients. Output is ether RTF or ASCII and may be placed in a single file or 1 file/patient.

    Before You Begin
CPDM SPU utilizes External Views to access CPDM data. To create External Views, please refer to our ClinPlus Forum post on External Views. You will also need to know where to the directories are that contain your Data Entry Screens and Formats for the studies you wish to print. These can be found in the CPDM Study Administration screen’s Library tab.

You will also need to supply an output directory location for the screen prints.

Note: If your formats are Source level or Global then you can find their location in the Source Administration module. If your study uses multiple format libraries ( Global, Source, Study) then you will need to manually assign libnames and set the FMTSEARCH option to reflect the proper format search order.

    Using CPDM SPU
Click on the desktop shortcut or program group icon to start the utility. You will enter the appropriate information as in the example below.

Next, Specify the DE Screens Path, Format Path and Output Path by clicking the corresponding ellipsis.

Choose the Output Name (default is CP_ScrnPrt), output type (.lst=ASCII, .rtf=RTF), and file allocation (Single File or 1 File/pat). If you choose 1 File/Pat then a single file named INVnnnPATnnn will be created for every patient selected and the Output Name is ignored.

Leave Clear SAS log between prints checked to avoid the SAS log exceeding capacity. This should only be unchecked for debugging purposes.

Important: if you are printing 1 File/Pat then you will need to uncheck View results as they are generated in your SAS Preferences. You should also uncheck Create listing or large listings may exceed you SAS Output Window’s capacity.
