  • Create A System Pages List By Feature

Purpose: Create a report that can help administrators understand the impact of modifying roles by showing them what pages go with a particular feature.

To See The Current System Pages List
    Login as an administrator.
    Click on the Administrator tab.
Click on the System Reports menu.
Click on the Module dropdown arrow and select Administration.
Click on the Type dropdown and select Report.
Click on the "View or export the report" button for System Pages List.
Click on the Preview button. This report list pages within the system sorted by their module, which corresponds to the tabs on the CTMS menu (Home, Project, Country, Sites, Enrollment, Finance, and Administration). It also includes a "None" module for pages that can be found in more than more tab or are given to all users no matter how little access they have ("My..." tabs).

Another useful way to look at this data is by Feature. This way you can see the effect of giving or removing access to a particular feature for a given role. You might think that just looking at the Feature module under the System Administration menu would be fine, but some pages are included in features that are not always obvious.

So let's create a new report to show us system pages by feature.

    Create The New Report
    Close the previous report.
Close the window for the System Pages List parameters.
Click on the details button for System Pages List.
    Click on the Copy button.
Click on the OK button to confirm the copy.
Change the Name to System Pages List By Feature.
Add "by feature" to the end of the description.
Click on the Group Fields tab.
Click on the details button for the Menusort field.
Change the Group Field to FeatureName.
    Click the Save button.
Click on the details button for the MenuName field.
    Click on the Inactivate button.
    Click the Return button.
    Click on the Save button.
Click on the "View or export the report" button for System Pages List By Feature.
Click on the Preview button. When the report opens you will see a group of records with a blank feature. These pages can be found in more than more tab or are given to all users no matter how little access they have ("My..." tabs).

This report could be further modified to page break when the Group Field changes. This can be accomplished by checking the Show Header checkbox when editing the Group Field.
    See the attached report.
